Any good gardening books you could recommend?

I bought my first house in Maine, and would like to make a few flower gardens around the house. Since I have no idea how or where to start, does anybody know of a good book (or two!) that would be helpful for a beginning gardener? I've looked online, but there are so many to choose from!

Details:

  1. The next link offers you an option: http://tinyurl.com/cjokf5 Good gardening and a lot of prosperity!
  2. I would go to the Scott's Website and check out there. www.scotts.com It has a large assortment of information on any lawn and garden issues. They will even answer your questions if you have something specific. They also sell many gardening/planting books if you'd prefer to hold it in your hands.
  3. I shop amazon books at amazon.com. They have all books and its easy to find them. Also customer reviews on almost everyone. A plus is the price and fast shipping.
  4. Books that break gardening into small, simple steps rather than overwhelm you with huge amounts of information are good books to use when you're just getting your garden started. For flower gardening, try this book--the Well-Tended Perennial Garden http://www.amazon.com/Well-Tended-Perennial-Garden-Planting-Techniques/dp/0881928038/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1241706801&sr=1-17 Here's a link to a gardening book review on a website that has a bunch of gardening book reviews and well as general gardening info, most of it for organic gardening. http://www.bluehorizonfarm.com/organic-gardening/Greatest-Gardening.html
