  2. What are the best plants for attracting butterflies?

I want to make a butterfly garden and was wondering what I should plant. I am in zone 5/6 and would like to grow flowers, vines, shrubs, etc. that would attract the lovelies. The area I am looking to grow in is partial shade (some areas almost all shade under a tree). It would be awesome if there was a flowering vine I could grow up the tree. Any ideas would be great! Thanks!

  4. Need ideas for a slow growing perennial garden?

Garden will be beside a walkway. Plants will receive full sun to partial shade (north/south in direction). We live in growing zone 6a. We want: 1. Perennials that won't "take over" the entire garden 2. Are smaller in size 3. A variety that would give colour throughout growing season 4. Easy to maintain as this is our first attempt with perennials. Any ideas or resources?

  5. 10 Points for best idea to fill partial/full shade garden?

the garden is brand new. It is about 20 feet long by 3-4 feet deep. So far, I have 1 rhododendron planted in one corner. Thanks!

  6. Where can I get wild strawberry plants?

I have a partial shade spot between my driveway and my neighbor's house that could use a groundcover. I thought wild strawberries would be perfect (and delicious, too). But I can't seem to find them anywhere. Does anybody know where I might be able to find some plants in Minnesota? I'm talking about Fragaria Virginiana, the one that grows in the woods and has the most delicious concentrated little berries you've ever had. NOT fragaria chiloensis with the yucky white berries or any other weed.

  7. I have a bougainvillea I bought about 3 mo ago. I planted it in the garden in a partial shade and sunny spot.?

It has beautiful foliage and it continues to grow, but it hasn't bloomed. It has new growth all over it and I fertilize it with a monthly fertilizer for camellia and gardenia food. Have any ideas why it won't bloom.

  8. What sort of tree would suit these needs?

I'd like a tree in the back garden but I don't want it to grow too big, have too much of a vigorous root system, grows well in clay soil and in partial shade. I can't seem to find ideas online so I'd appreciate it if I could have some tree ideas here please :)

  9. Which bog garden plants will thrive in partial to full shade?

I'm intrigued by the idea of a bog garden. Raising the elevation of the low spot might be impractical because this low spot is probably exacerbated by gutters/roof runoff where the houses are very close together.

  10. Which of these plants can be planted in the garden - aechmea fasciata, aloe, ficus elastica?

I live in Hungary where we have warm weather until October. So I would like to plant the above plants in the yard until it gets cold. Your comments/ ideas are welcome! I am not misspelling the first plant - it is called Aechmea Fasciata and it is a type of Bromeliad. I would like to know whether I can plant it in garden soil instead of a pot.
